  3. The Citrus Bowl is a Complete Success

Touchdown!  The Florida Classic, Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, Russell Athletic Bowl, and Monster Jam were smashing successes and Orlando loves using their new Citrus Bowl stadium.  According to Turner’s Construction Executive Frank Gramarossa (Recommendation Letter), Tharp Plumbing provided Turner “peace of mind” and required “little effort and oversight by the GC ” on the demanding Citrus Bowl.  This short-fuse stadium renovation (Zurn Article) was completed safely with top notch plumbing craftsmanship on time and on budget.  Although many doubted that Tharp Plumbing Systems and the other fellow trades under Turner Construction’s management could battle through the challenging $209M project in a 10 month period, this project was total winner.  In addition to receiving a significant face-lift with additional seating legroom, the revamped stadium had all first and second floor bathrooms and concessions completely replaced and upgraded.  Tharp received invaluable help from JCB Construction, Mettron Contracting, Ortiz Plumbing, Paramount Plumbing, and The City of Orlando’s Blueprint Program.  Congratulations to everyone involved !!!

  4. Federal EEO & Affirmative Action Audit – Smooth Sailing

Tharp’s long-standing robust diversity and affirmative action programs set the stage for a smooth and “violation free” audit during a recent vigorous random compliance review by the Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).

The compliance review officer commended Tharp’s multi-faceted affirmative action programs and innovative training activities aimed at increasing employment opportunities for all employees, including minorities, women, veterans and individuals with disabilities and culminated in a letter of appreciation from the Orlando District Director of OFCCP.

Tharp stands proud in going beyond minimum requirements of EEO/Affirmative Action laws to fulfill its obligations as a federal contractor and to be a supporting partner of the general contractors with whom we do business.

  5. Habitat for Humanity – Home Dedication

The Roman family celebrated their new Orlando home compliments of Habitat for Humanity this Friday afternoon.  Jack Jennings and Son’s (Jeff Jennings) lead the complete renovation of 3048 Jon Jon Ct for Vanja Roman and her two children, along with the help of many specialty contractors.  Our generous Tharp employees installed all the plumbing on their own personal time for the renovation.  Special thanks to Orlando Winnelson and Hughes Supply for donating all the fixtures!
