The Tharp Plumbing “Red Hot Chili Pipers” consisting of Greg Jones, Steve Lewis, Jay Jackson, and Amanda Tharp took home the grand prize at the ABC annual Chili Cook Off! Eighteen general contractors and subcontractors competed for the top prize. Steve Lewis’s secret recipe wowed the judges and the booth presentation displaying a chili pepper made from painted plumbing pipe with a small torch coming from the top was incredible! It was good food and fun for all!
At the most recent, Breakfast at Tharp’s, two employees were the lucky winners of two Orlando Magic home game tickets. Tharp recently started the first Monday of the month 6:00 a.m. breakfast to enhance communication between the field and the office staff and to show their appreciation to all. It has served as a wonderful time of fellowship and an opportunity for employees to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.
Tharp is always looking for ways to enhance their employee morale. The breakfast was a suggestion of one employee and fit perfectly in with one of Tharp’s goals to improve communication with the employees based on feedback from an employee survey done earlier this year. Tharp prides itself in having an open door policy with employees and also offers an anonymous suggestion box to keep the communication flowing. Management continues to strive to make Tharp an awesome place to work for all!
Tharp Plumbing Systems won the prestigious Eagle Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc for the Darden Corporate Headquarters Project with Hardin Construction. The Eagle award is the highest award given in the Excellence in Construction Awards Competition. Projects are judged on execution of design, craftsmanship, attention to detail, proper installation, evidence of extra ordinary effort, owner satisfaction, and other considerations. The award criteria aligns with Tharp’s mission statement which is “craftsmanship delivered on time, safely and within budget to establish trusting client relationships and repeat work that promotes both our clients and employees longevity, professional growth and prosperity.”
Tharp congratulates Dave Horn and Jay Jackson who passed their state master plumbing contractors exam in October! They join Jim Tharp and Ron Allegood who have also passed the difficult test.
One employee had a wonderful suggestion that was immediately endorsed by management to provide gifts for the military for the holidays. Employees are gathering food, magazines, silly string, and personal hygiene items to soldiers away from home. Tharp is matching all contributions and providing shipping. Men and women who have little contact with loved ones from home will be the first to benefit from the employees’ generosity!
