Tharp Plumbing is working on its eighth Disney project in recent months and fourth one with Whiting-Turner on Epcot’s Yakitori House. This unique project requires a 13 week schedule with employees working 7 days a week with 2 shifts daily. Tharp is ready to surpass their expectations and continue to show Whiting-Turner they are indeed “Purveyors of Fine Plumbing”.
Doster Construction awarded Tharp Plumbing Systems Aloma Elementary School & Princeton Elementary School. This is the first time the two companies have teamed up to do school work; both projects encompass renovation and new construction. Employees must pass special security clearance to work on the projects.
Tharp Plumbing won the Silver STEP (Safety Training and Evaluation Process) award for their commitment to safety from the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. The criteria for the award is based on various safety items including resources, meetings, goals, employee & supervisor participation, pre-planning, orientation, training, policies and use of personal protective equipment. Tharp Plumbing always puts safety first and will go the extra mile to ensure a healthy and safe work environment for all employees.
Tharp Plumbing was recently nominated for the Orlando Business Journal’s Best Places to Work contest. Employees were given anonymous surveys to complete; they gave very high marks to the company in several areas. The highest remarks three years in a row stated that most employees really enjoy their jobs and enjoy working for Tharp Plumbing. This is proven by the fact that Tharp’s average employee tenure is eight years, and there are many employees who have worked for the company close to twenty! Employees also believe Tharp Plumbing is poised to be successful in the future and understand their role in helping Tharp achieve that success! Tharp Plumbing prides itself on being a drug-free workplace since 1980, and their random drug testing program recently went electronic. Employees will no longer need to come into the office to pick up paperwork prior to getting tested. The testing facility will already have employee information in the system, saving time and money for everyone involved.
