  1. Tharp’s 43rd School Project Awarded

Tharp Plumbing Systems was awarded a contract with Allstate Construction, Inc. for the  Gray Middle School remodel in Groveland.  This will be Tharp Plumbing’s 43rd school project and the 3rd one in Lake County. Tharp Plumbing is ready to demonstrate that they are “Purveyors of Fine Plumbing” for Allstate since this will be their first project working together. Three crews will work for one year on the large job.

  2. In Step with Technology

Tharp Plumbing recently rolled out new company cell phones/radios for all employees.  All field helpers and some office staff received business cell phones to use for the very first time.  The phones allow instant text and voice communications for all business communications.  The phones will also serve as timekeeping devices following the current testing phase.  All time and job costing will eventually be input and assigned to jobs by way of these devices and this will ensure a more accurate and efficient pay system overall.

  3. Skanska/JCB Construction Project Awarded

Tharp Plumbing was awarded the new construction and remodeling of the Winter Park 9th Grade Center with Skansk/JCB Construction making it Tharp’s third project with Skanska as the general contractor.  This eighteen month project will be Tharp’s forty-first school project in Central Florida in the last six years.  Richard Spencer is the chief estimator on the job and David Horn will serve as the project manager.

  4. Tharp Plumbing Mourns Loss of Fellow Co-worker

We regretfully lost one of our teammates Joshua Sammons on his drive to work the morning of February 12, 2009.  Josh was a hardworking and dedicated apprentice who was a pleasure to know as both friend and co-worker. Tharp employees showed their support by donating money and other items to the family.  The Employee Relief Fund and TPS contributed as well.  Josh’s daughter, Joshanna, was born to his financee Jayme McDonald on March 3, 2009.  We will all miss Josh and our thoughts and prayers continue to be with his entire family.

  5. Greg Jones Joins Tharp’s Management Team

Tharp Plumbing Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce that Greg Jones has joined the company’s management and business development team in the role of Senior Estimator. Greg’s thirty-plus years of hands-on project management and estimating experience in the commercial plumbing and mechanical contracting business brings additional technical depth and leadership to our estimating department. Highlights of Greg’s career include senior project management, Chief Estimator and overall operations management for a variety of prominent Central Florida contractors. Another noteworthy achievement that witnesses his dedication to the plumbing profession was his role as Plumbing Instructor for Associated Builders and Contractors from 1981 to 1996. Tharp will surely benefit from Greg’s proficiency as an instructor as it expands its apprenticeship program.
