On September 25, two Tharp employees participated in a motorcycle ride, “Cruise for a Cause” that was organized by Energy Air, Inc. Over $5,000.00 was raised for the Florida Hospital Diabetes Foundation and Tharp Plumbing Systems contributed 10% of that! Another Tharp employee put his walking shoes on along with several Brasfield and Gorrie employees to participate in a walk benefiting the American Heart Association on October 2. Tharp made a financial contribution to the cause which raised over $1,000,000.
Congratulations to Tharp Plumbing’s President Jim Tharp who was recently elected to the Central Florida chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors Board of Directors! The election process involved sending out letters to hundreds of other fellow ABC chapter members (general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers) encouraging them to vote for him. With this new position, Jim desires to champion an intensified level of mentoring and solid leadership development programs that will grow and energize aspiring young construction leaders to take the construction industry to new heights!
Jim Tharp, Tony Chaves, and Michael Williamson were guest lecturers at the University of Florida M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Building Construction. Tharp Plumbing has been given the privilege to teach once a semester at the school to enlighten the students about the plumbing field and to raise their awareness of the various specialty components of the construction industry!

The Community Food and Outreach Center in downtown Orlando (formerly Destiny Foundation) was the lucky recipient of the goods. Tharp has been supporting their cause to help families in crisis for several years. Some of the top Tharp donors included Jimmy Allegood, Steve Heisner, Dave Horn, Chris Joyce, Jeff Orr, Ryan Rivera, Amanda Tharp, Derrick Wilson, and Alberto Vicens. Tharp wishes to thank all employees who contributed generously despite the tough economy.
