Tony Chaves, Michael Williamson, and Jim Tharp recently represented Tharp Plumbing Systems on January 28, 2011 at the University of Florida Rinker School of Building Construction. Tharp Plumbing has been given the opportunity to teach once a semester at the school to enlighten the students about the plumbing field and to raise their awareness about the trade. Employees Jay Jackson and Michael Williamson are UF Building Construction graduates and were students in the class Jim was teaching at the time.
Twenty employees were formally recognized this year for their perfect attendance at the annual company meeting; nine other employees received recognition for their excellent attendance. Tharp values reliability, punctuality and consistency among their staff.
Six Tharp foremen were shown appreciation for their accurate completion of activities and paperwork necessary for successful, safe jobs from start to finish with our general contractors and customers. Tharp appreciates their employees’ effort towards detail and quality!
Several Tharp employees were recognized at the annual company meeting for their accomplishments and hard work through out the year. Twenty-three employees were awarded personalized plaques for their job performance, accomplishments and strong work ethics. Twenty-one different types of awards were given that ranged from All-Star to best job performances to most reliable, most cooperative and most versatile employees. Tharp is appreciative of their well-rounded, highly-skilled team players!
Tharp Plumbing’s apprenticeship program recently became state certified. Already an Accredited Training Sponsor for the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), Tharp is glad to have received their state certification. There are currently two classes of apprentices consisting of a total of nine company employees involved in the program. The on-the-job training they receive will be invaluable since it will be recognized by the state of Florida Department of Education and nationally through NCCER.
It was celebration time at the annual Tharp Plumbing Christmas party. Several employees received five year rings for their service to the company. Three other employees received 10 year upgrades to their rings and one employee received a one week vacation get away package for his 25 years of service! Tharp prides itself in the fact that the average employee has been with the company eight years! Since Tharp established the ring recognition program, over one hundred rings have been given to employees who have made the mark and approximately $200,000 spent in recognizing tenure.
